Cheat Your Weight Loss Program Guilt Free
By Rosie PetersCheat your diet. Cheat your exercise program. And don't waste a single minute of your life worrying about it. Even though you have committed to a weight control diet and a regular exercise regime, you have to realise that from time to time circumstances will mean you will cheat.
Occasional cheating is not the problem. The most buffed body builders and svelte supermodels cheat their diet and exercise programs from time to time. They still maintain their fitness and shape. Why? Because they can put their cheating in perspective. Successful dieters do not see cheating as failure; it is a necessary break from regular routine.
After the cake, go back to your regular diet program. Share the rest of the cake around; don't feel compelled to scoff the lot yourself whether over a short or long period of time. Feel good about your friend's kind gesture and the taste of the treat. Go back to your weight control diet and look forward your next cheat meal (one a week is a good rule of thumb). If you are about to set out on your daily walk and the weather turns very nasty and you feel a bit off colour anyway, just take a day off. Don't agonize. Just do it. You can eat a bit less today or walk a bit further tomorrow or swap your rest day for this week.
Once you have made the conscious decision to cheat your diet a little or miss one exercise session in your weekly program, just enjoy the break. The problem starts if you beat yourself up over your decision, then use that as an excuse to polish off the rest of the cake or give up on your exercise entirely.
Guilt is a negative and worthless emotion. Don't seize it and cling onto it. Recognise it and let it go. It will only do you harm. Accept your decision to cheat, enjoy the treat food or the lazy day off, then get back into it - guilt free.
